Pen Y Fan @The Ten Y Fan
10 Years – 10 climbs

This will mark exactly 10 years since we lost Rhys… he loved the Brecon Beacons, particularly Pen-Y-Fan. As such my aim is to complete one ascent for each year within a 24 hour period. I shall start at midday on Saturday and hope to complete 10 ascents by midday on Sunday 12th July.
The plan is to begin the first ascent at 12pm on Saturday 11th with an inclusive social walk, after which we are likely to swap to our own pace for the remaining attempts… sunset is around 9.30pm and sunrise sometime before 5am. Rhys has arranged for the weather to be perfect, warm, sunny and dry (if a touch warm).
Many people have already pledged their support on the day (some for the whole 24 hours), some are coming up to man the RR81 gazebo which will be set up in the car park with refreshments and support. All are gratefully welcomed.
In terms of fundraising I have set up a Just Giving link for this event, not my preferred method but its by far the easiest and most accessible.

What I do know is that if you’re about and have the time over the weekend, I would appreciate the company on one or more of the efforts…
I’ll be somewhere on Pen Y Fan and wont be hard to see as Joanne has designed and produced some t-shirts and has enlisted the help of the charity ambassadors and Trustees to be a presence and support again… I aim to do live updates so you can follow our progress and will post these to the RR81 Facebook page, some people who cant make it have said that they’ll do a walk themselves on the day, please take a selfie from somewhere and add it to the comments.
